        Digger Derrick Operator
        Certification Description
        The National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), Digger Derrick Operator is for those who directly control the digger derrick functions. The digger derrick is often used by utilities and electrical contractors and is mostly equipped with a digging auger and devices used to lift and stabilize a pole during installation. These can be used for light and sign installation, general construction, and telecommunications. The operator is responsible for safely and competently planning work tasks, evaluating which equipment should be used for each task, positioning, setting up, and operating equipment. Candidates must pass both a written and practical exam.
